Our farming heritage

Farming is in our blood…

My husband Douglas grew up in El Salvador where he helped on his grandfather’s dairy farm. He also grew and harvested corn.

My family (Virginia here!) is deep in farming heritage as well. On my mom’s side, my great-great-grandfather Alton had a produce stand at the Broad Street Market. My great grandparents Beulah and Vance also had a stand at this market selling meat in the winter and home churned butter. In the warmer months they sold produce. Much was grown on their farm!

My great grandparents Margery and Lester owned a produce stand at the West Shore Farmer’s Market. My grandfather was a hobby farmer. He sold produce in the blue shed that stood where our stand is now. My dad farms soy beans, field corn, and sweet corn here on Nauvoo Farm!
